JANEL MAYER NAMED 2008 MISS EASTERN SHORE

Milwaukee, WI – January 8, 2008 – Janel Mayer was crowned Miss Eastern Shore on Saturday, January 5th 2006 at Marion Center for Non-Profits Auditorium .  Her walk across the stage marked her first steps on her upcoming year of service.

Janel Mayer, 23, a Marquette Graduate, is currently working as an Assistant Account Executive at Cramer-Krasselt.   Mayer's platform issue is Be a Hero- Donate Blood.  With the title, Mayer won a scholarship to continue her education.   Her hope to to obtain her MBA from Marquette University in the next few years.   Mayer performed a Tap Dance to Mambo Italiano.  The first runner-up was also a Marquette Graduate, Payal Patel.

"It is my goal to use this title as a voice to reach out to the community.   For years the Miss Eastern Shore pageant has gone unnoticed and it is my mission to get the word out for the organization and all it has to offer young women in Southeastern Wisconsin.  Above and beyond this, I hope encourage people to donate blood throughout the year.   I have partnered with the Blood Center of Wisconsin to recruit both donors and volunteers.   I also hope to go into area schools and promote the youth to promise to donate once they turn seventeen," states Janel Mayer- Miss Eastern Shore.

While promoting Blood Donation, Janel will also work with Children’s Miracle Network- Miss America’s new charity partner.  Her goal is to raise $1,000.00 in the upcoming year. 

As Miss Eastern Shore, Janel will compete in the Miss Wisconsin Pageant next June.  The winner of that competition will go on to compete for the title of Miss America.  As the world's largest provider of scholarship assistance for young women and one of the nation's leading achievement programs, The Miss America Organization, and its state and local organizations, last year made available more than $45 million in cash and tuition scholarship assistance.

The Miss America Organization provides young women with a vehicle to further their personal and professional goals and instills a spirit of community service through a variety of unique nationwide community-based programs.
